V-10 to Cummins conversion questions...

I'm working on putting a 12V into a 2000 Dodge 2500 that came with a V-10. I've done a Cummins Conversion before, but I used all of the drivetrain out of the original truck. I am pretty confident in the whole swap...the only thing I'm unsure of is making the V-10 tranny work right...

What's it take to hook the 47RE up to the 12V motor. I am ASSUMING, but am not sure, that the torque converter and flexplate will have to belong to the Cummins. Also, I'm sure the electronics will involve swapping the computer from a '97-'98 that had the 47RE, in order to make the transmission shift. I've also heard that the front pump and governer weights would have to be swapped from a diesel tranny... Can somebody that KNOWS, not THINKS please answer these questions for me. I've done a search on this forum and a couple of others, and keep hearing mixed thoughts...

Another question I have is about the fuel tank. The stock tank appears to be a plastic tanks...Would I be alrite to have the GAS tank cleaned and use it, or do I need to swap it out with the tank from a diesel?

Thanks in advance, guys...
Jimmy

I would call a guy like Dave Gorend for the tranny questions.

Tank will be fine, just change out to a diesel module.

you need to change your valvebody. IMO it would be just as easy to sell your trans and buy one for the cummins truck

$$$ and down time are of the essence here. When we go to do the swap, we need to have it back up and running within a week. The truck is the guy's tow pig, and he's in the land clearing business...Due to the whole recession that we're in right now, he can't afford to throw the cash at it to get a cummins tranny, and wait for the gas tranny to sell...

Is the torque converter and computer the same in the 2? Surely, the gas computer won't work with the diesel, will it? How close are the TC stall speeds between the 2? Also, would the TC from an 47RH (diesel) work on the RE? I have a good RH with a converter, but it's a 2WD tranny...
