Turning trouble
My truck is starting to fight back when I turn the wheel over halfway in either direction. You'll feel a hit, relax, hit, relax, etc. through the wheel as you try and turn. The truck did it when I first got it. I used 4wd a few times and it quit. My '84 Chevy did it when the hubs didn't lock out all the way after 4wd use but I believe these hubs are always in (which is a silly idea). Anyway, I ran it in 4wd for awhile on dirt and then took it out and backed up, just in case. Didn't work, even though I did it twice. The truck has a 110,000 on it and the local Dodge dealer thought it would just be the front u joints wearing out. I've had some trouble with those guys, though, and it wasn't even a mechanic making the diagnosis, just a counter guy. Has anyone experienced this before? If so, what's the cause and approximate cost?

It's funny you say that, mine has been doing it for about 2 weeks now. Does kinda feel like it's stuck in 4wd, but I don't think it is. I have to use 4wd every day to park here at the house. No doubt, it is going in to 4wd when I reach down and pull back on that little lever. I know I have other serious front end issues after a year of these SW Pa potholes and a diesel engine - any front end would be worn. I know I need ball joints, track bar, shocks, steering stabilizer, etc... Hard to tell right now what exactly it is. My first thought was being stcuk in 4wd, but now I really don't think it is. I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has this figured out for us.
