My first CTD was a 98 24 valve and the you could hear the turbo spool up.(Sounded nice)I now have a 12 valve and I cant hear the turbo at all.Whats this all about?I know the turbo is working but it is very quiet.

Naah, a '98 5 speed should build enough boost to hear it.. heck, with a Scotty, I hear my turbo most between 5-15psi anyway..

Got gauges? what boost are you making?

When I first bought my truck it was real quiet, I could hardly hear the turbo. My nephew has a '94 with a standard trans. and you could really hear his whine. I thought....maybe the difference between auto and standard. I also had the K&N drop in, I replaced it with the AFE intake and removed the ring and now she whistle's really nice!

Intake/BHAF and silencer ring removal will give you lots of whine. Straight pipe will increase turbo exhaust whistle and a nice "quick spool down" noise between shifts which realy gets some attention
