Turbo rebuild kits? New turbo recommendations?
Ive got all the goodies in my sig on the truck and it pulls pretty nice. I was diagnosing an air leak and I checked the turbo shaft for play and theres quite a bit in there. Not enough to get the blades to touch the housing but close. Anyone know the cost / difficulty of a turbo rebuild kit? I might also consider a new turbo since Id like to add injectors soon. Any ideas on the best bang for the buck in turbo and injectors? Id like to avoid the 370's if possible. Maybe some low-use stock 215's with larger DV's or spend the $$ on some nice ones.
Im assuming a hybrid is the best way to go at the moment. Whats the boost range for a hybrid turbo? 35psi? 40?

Rebuild kits are about $70 here http://www.htturbo.com/ and not too hard.

Some side to side play on the turbo shaft is normal. Holset specs state 0.013-0.020". End to end play is tighter and should be 0.001-0.005". You can download all the service manuals here. Holset Manuals
215's will give you about 25HP. You'll definately notice it. With my mods and the plate in the stock position, my EGT's stay around 1200 until the upper end of third gear when boost starts climbing above 35psi.
I installed rebuilt 215's. When they rebuild them, they install brand new tips. They're probably not as good as new you'd buy from a performance vendor that has tweaked them, but they were around the $300US mark.
