That's still pretty good. I thought max boost stock was about 15-16 psi. If you want to run more boost then you're gonna have to add more fuel accordingly. I think you can push your stock fuel plate forward and rig your wastegate somehow so it doesn't open up until it builds more boost. Or you can get the TST kit for about $200 (good bang for buck upgrade). Or you can go with a Banks kit. There's different ways. Someone with more knowledge should back this up.

If you have 24 lbs. boost I'd bet previous owner made some modifications. When I had a Bank's Stinger kit in that's what I had. You could remove the AFC cover and check the # on the fuel plate. Also if the tamper proof screw isn't in the upper forward position it's a sign someone's been in there. Not a bad thing. Consider improving the air intake and the exhaust along with what has been suggested.

I can touch 40 psi on the stock turbo with the mods I have in my sig!!

Yes, yes I know that's way too much. I've only done it twice and just for a split second.

If it's stock how do you know what boost your running? If it came with a boost gauge chances are some other mods have been done.
The 97's are one of the best years to modify. You'll find tons of info here-happy reading!

You wont hurt anything at 40 psi. It just doesnt do ya any good to have a stock 35 up there. Try to limit it to 35 Psi. After that your just blowing hot air in
