Turbo Difference Between Ca and Other States

I have a california 98 12 valve truck.....is there a difference between the california turbo and the other 49 states?

It's the same HX35 as the rest of the late 12Vs. Intake horn (engine side, post intercooler) is narrowed down at the egr valve, which cuts flow drastically over the other trucks.

So...since i have a banks twin ram intake that should take care of the narrowing.....even though it came equipted with a spot for the egr?
