Truck not shutting down
Tonite when I got back to the barn, unloaded the trailer and after the truck cooled off I turned the key off and it kept running. Lifted the hood but too dark to see anything and not going to pok around in a dark engine while still running. Anway , shut the hood and she stopped. Started , drove home , turned key off and same thing. Got out , shut the door and she stopped again. So Im gessing the rod on the selenoid is either binding or dirty and sticking. Would this be right? I hope someone doesnt tell me its worn out.

The solenoid rarely fails, it probably the most often needlessly replaced item on a 12 valve, expensive too.
The problem is usually crud or rust in the solenoid or linkage or worn out starter contacts.

The boot on my solenoid was torn to shreds when I got the truck, and every now and then it wouldn't start or shut off without a little help of moving the solenoid arm manually. I took the solenoid off, cleaned it up good and re-wrapped it with a bicycle tire tube, then sprayed some white lithium in the new boot and it starts on the first crank every time now.
