Truck don't seem stock
Ok so thus 97 12 valve I just bought does not seem stock. It seems way faster, actually I know it's way faster than my 24 valve.I know the p.o. It's a higher mileage truck I could have gotten one with half the miles for around the same price. but since I know this guy I felt a little more comfortable. for instance if failed inspection because of ball joints he ended up bringIng me a good amount of my money back. I thought He owned it for 12 years and it was his father's before that well It was but Only for about a year or two. so I don't know if someone did something before then. I need to call him and see if he has bigger injectors in it maybe. it just has exhaust and an aftermarket pump& built auto transmission and I'm not hot rOding it around. but of course since I just got it a couple of weeks ago I've gotten on it a few times. it will roast the tires without a problem, if I get on it and blows a little black smoke but nothing excessive. once I hit overdrive I'm really flying I can bury my needle and it feels like I'm just going faster and faster. anyways is this Normal? I've read where guys can get over 85 or 90 I can hit 100 in a blink of an eye.

Sounds like a healthy 12v. Check for the break off screws on AFC housing, that would lead to believe something like a fuel plate has been installed.
A tuned 12v has no torque management like a stock 24v, so it will hit a little quicker. My 12v has an early 215hp pump, no plate and 16 deg. timing, nothing else and it out pulls my 07 5.9, especially at lower RPMs. That is rated at 325/610.
Might want to install a pyro....

It shocks people just how detuned these things are stock, just moving/grinding the fuel plate and adding a 3K GSK with some tuning makes for a whole different truck, if you have a trans to hold it.
i would say if you have anything over stock it isn't much at all.......
