I am a few miles east of Belleville, Illinois. Its like 40 something east from St.Louis. Why do you ask? Oh and by the way. Which truck is "louder" the 12s or 24s? Thanks

The 24 valve trucks are typically louder. I guess it has something to do with the injection, but if you take a 12v, and 24v with same exhaust setup, the 24v generally is louder; especially at the engine compartment. good luck

KDP stands for killer dowel pin, and i think is only on the 12v trucks. It can fall out, and cause some damage. Its in the front gear casing of the motor i believe.

Oh ok. I though that the 24s were louder. Do you think that perhaps the timing of the engine has something to do with the loudness as well? Maybe the 24s fire before the 12s do or vise versa. Just a thought. Im still working on getting my truck, Im going to visit some places this weekend. I dont even have a truck, and Im getting a list of mods to do to it! For starters, Im doin my stack, and I want some smoke! Why not have smoke, its a Cummins. haha. What other mods can I do for now, without purchasing anything?

The KDP also affects some 24 valves up to '99.
Best to do something before it gets you.

Yeah, I think that will be one of the first things that I will do whenever I buy my truck is the KDP. There is a post on here about how to fix it to ensure that it dosent happen to you. I believe they say to move it around and feel if its loose and put some epoxy on it to prevent any possible damage. But dont quote me on that one.

Dropping a KDP is a bad thing. At the shop I work at we dowel pin tab probably 10 trucks a week. But we also get one truck a week that has dropped it's dowel pin breaking the gear case, and sometimes the cover, and a couple have also destroyed the cam gear. It affects all 89-99's. Some late 99's have the updated gear case, but there's no way of knowing, so it's best to tear into it.

Just curious. Quite a ways from me. Just in case you needed help BOMBing your truck, if you ever decided to do that.

Think mine is probably the only BOMBed 12v around here. Some others are straight-piped, but thats it.

Oh. Where are you from? Thank you for the offer anyways. I cannot wait to get my truck, so I can start BOMBing it.
