transmission still not shifting 100% - post mods

1995 x-cab 4x4 12v automatic
I just added some mods:

3k GSK
#10 plate (about half way forward) AFC half way forward too.
DDP stage 1 injectors

the tranny will blast thru 1st and 2nd but hang up in 2nd and 3rd gear and rev the engine to 3500 rpm or more if I don't let off.

I gotta blip the throttle to get it into 3rd then OD lockup

if its in lockup and I smash the throttle it'll downshift and rev the engine too high and hang up, blip the throttle and I'm back into OD

gotta really drive this truck with the throttle, blips at the shift points really help get it into the next gear

wondering what I could do to improve this

wish I could remember the TC I have, but its upgraded. some kind of brazed fin and upgraded lockup clutch

high pressure VB, shift kit
upgraded clutch pack/basket
upgraded input shaft

been a number of years since the tranny has been built, can't find the sheet on it

still a massive improvement over the stock engine with this tranny, it'd downshift and rev the truck way past its defuel point and I'd sit there like a turd and half to back all the way out to get it to shift, now I just blip it.

You might need to re-adjust your TPS voltages. Now that you have the GSK, your pedal doesn't have to go to the floor to get full rpm and the tranny thinks you aren't at the right throttle position.

does the 95 have a TPS, I thought the TPS wasnt added until 1996 with the 47RE trans? My 1995 also shifts strange and I can actually feel stiffness in the pedal when the trans is just about to downhift-

yes, there is a TPS on a 1995

mine went bad once, I had to drill it out and squirt electric contact cleaner in it because it was going in and out of lockup.

as for the pedal going stiff, mine does that too. I like the feedback on the go pedal.

I didn't think the TPS had anything to do with tansmission shift points, just TC lockup - which it's doing fine at that.

lockup comes on about 47 MPH, which I don't want it much lower as that'd cause it more stress..specially modded. I should auctually bump it up to 50 mph

Well a couple minutes with a DVM and wrench to set that up would be a quick check. Also the TV cable for the tranny could be checked/adjusted.

Is it the original trans or at least the transmission governor? I have a '95 V-10 47RH trans in my Chevy with a '92 Cummins, VE pump with a 3200 gov spring that does about the same as you describe. The governor in the transmission is calibrated for the gas engine (higher rpm). I was told to try it but it just won't shift soon enough at full throttle. If I lift, it shifts.

try adjusting your throttle valve (TV) cable.. pull the cable back for more line pressure, push it forward for less.. im guessing you need to move it forward. mine was shifting early and chattering, i adjusted it back a few notches, a bit better, a few more, a lot better, a few more, shifts perfect! if you do a search on here for tv cable you should find clear instructions
