Transmission Jack for 47RE?
Anyone know what a 47RE weighs with torque converter and transfer case? I'm looking at some jacks and would like opinions please. I don't want to do this for a living just something that works good and doesn't break the bank.
Converts a floor jack to a tranny jack:

The 3rd one you have linked is the one we use.
Not sure on exact weight, but I'd recommend unbolting the transfer and just dropping it before you drop the tranny.
Try to find a junk tranny pan and slit the 4 edges so it folds a little, and drill two holes and bolt it on top of the jack, really helps for the tranny to sit in!

The trans isn't all that heavy.. well at least light enough that I can carry them around by myself. I would guess maybe 250lbs without the convertor.
T Case is maybe 45lbs for the normal one, and dunno on the HD... that one is a beast!
I use a jack like the one in the last link.

The 47RH that I just weighed is 170lbs without the converter. The whole operation with T-case and converter might be 250lbs.

It's not so much the weight as the balance- If you don't have a tranny jack or adapter drop the t-case so the trans will balance better otherwise, keep em together and save the work.
If you only do it occasionally, or once a jack or jack adapter is not necessary. I've done a couple with just a floor jack and some wood- you just have to be careful of the pan.
BTW, a motorcycle/atv jack works well in a pinch too!

It is SO much easier to re-install with the proper jack though. You can adjust the plate to tip the unit correctly and get it in there with no fuss or injuries.
I have put a few transmissions in by hand before... not fun!

I have a deep pan on my trans and I took it off and put an oil steel pan on so the trans would be low enough to slide under the truck and also not to mess up the good pan. The pan isn't the balance point if you have the T Case on, but just wrap a ratchet strap around the trans and attach to the jack so it won't tip off.

Ended up with the 800lb model above.
I put a drain plug in the bottom of my stock pan, trying to figure out the best way to avoid putting too much pressure on that area when I pull the tranny out. Any ideas?

If you bought the jack the drain plug will not be an issue- the ears fit the corners of the pan mounting lip on the trans housing- not on the pan itself.
Just be sure to strap or chain it to the jack. And with the TC still bolted on the back it will be tail heavy.
