Question transmission-bolt pattern

I just picked up a 92 engine and coolers not sure yet what year of truck i will use this in-Can anybody tell me if the front of the tranny case for an automatic is the same as for example a big block 727 or is it a diesel only style case? I know the internals on the 518/46rh and the 727 have a lot in common. Any knowledge anyone can post on this will be helpfull to myself and others here wanting to get creative with transplants of theses fine engines so what can you tell us! Thanks guys

Thanks jughead is the v-10 all by itself too or is it the same as the 318/360 ? Anybody else have any good info on this subject or a good source for a rebuildable core tranny?

Im not sure about the automatics but 93 and older 5 speeds are Getrags and have a different bellhousing from the 94 and up transmissions. The engine adapters for 94 up will fit the bellhousings of the NV5600 6 speed and the NV4500 5 speeds.

Yes all pre 93 and older cummins have a different engine adapter plate it is unique and will not interchange with the V-10 automatic and/or later 94 and up NV4500 bellhousings. this is why AA makes a special bell for adapting nv4500's to the early cummins'

The the B, RB bell pattern and also the LA motor bell pattern will not fit a 89-93 cummins either.

The 727 diesel tranny was made in 89, 90 and early 91(IRRC on the dates) the OD 518 was 91, 92 and 93 and they all use the same engine adapter pattern as the getrag bellhousing, the getrag equipt trucks used a larger diameter flywheel and clutch than the NV4500's, then the 46rh uses the new bell pattern that is interchangable with the NV4500 bellhousings ect 1994+ and also only interchanges with the V10's.

The NV5600 shares the same bellpattern with the NV4500 but if used with the HO flywheel uses a spacer on the starter to work with the 330mm flywheel over teh 300 mm flyhweel on teh NV4500 trucks

i disagree with some of these comments. i used a 1999 bell housing clutch and bell housing to put a 93 ctd in a 1971 ford 1 ton truck. the bolt pattern on the block is the same through 2k. use the trans and the spacer for the transmission and it will bolt up

I stand to be corrected but those are the notes i have scribbled down from numerous conversions.........

The trans spacer (engine adapter) i believe is what we are talking about since it dictates the bell pattern
