On my 95 with a manual transmission, the trans has a spot for the pto. The transfer case doesn't.

Problem with the transfer case pto mount is that it's dependent on which gear you're in. On the manual mount it only depends on engine rpm.
The transfer case pto will even go in reverse which can be disastrous in some applications.
If you don't want to move the t-case has to be in N, auto tranny in whatever speed you want, with the manual only the 5 speed has to be in N.

Thanks for the advice on the transmissions and on the T Cases. Here's a little background - I started running a transfer case mounted PTO winch because that's the way the factory did it in 1970 in the power wagon I bought. Then I moved it to my '93 Dodge Cummins 205 transfer case, and the reason I like it mounted on the transfer case is because at idle I have five different line speeds and a reverse. So unless anybody can help me with a transfer case for one of these later model Dodges, I guess I'll have to rebuild my '85 Dodge crew cab or divorce mount a 205 in a '98 auto four-door. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Starting in 94, there were 2 versions of the NP241 transfer case used on Dodge diesels. The light duty was installed in most 2500 trucks. The heavy duty came with the PTO mount, and was installed in most 3500 trucks.
