Trans trouble ???
??? Hi guys I'm still having trouble with my trans (auto)
it was rebuilt an still under warranty but I take it back an they say they can't find anything wrong, well heres what it doe's, when i come to almost a complete stop but just not quite complete it will not down shift into low it wants to pull out in 2nd or seems like still in high. When I stop completely it takes about 5 or 10 seconds to down shift to low, also in the morning when i go to leave home i back up about 25 feet an it just seems to go into nuetral for a few seconds (also wont go forward) then it kicks in an goes fine. This is after sitting there for a 5 min warm up.
ONe more question anybody know of a Good repair shop for these trucks around Reading or Pottstown Pa. Nt just trans. but general repairs. thanks Bob

Re:Trans trouble ???
Make sure you are warming up in neutral (no fluid flow in Park) and that your fluid level is correct. When was the last time the tranny filter was changed?

I do the idling trick in neutral also and makes a big difference here in Minnesota cold.

Just remember to put the emergency brake on and take it off before trying to drive.

Re:Trans trouble ???
Bob, the problem may have something to do with level...too much can cause foaming and erratic operation as well as too little fluid. Look at it real close with it warmed up and in Neutral before taking it back in. If level is not the problem, then take it to a shop that will diagnose the problem with the aid of pressure gauges. The mechanical adjustment of the throttle cable going to the tranny may be a cause of your problem also...but I don't think it is likely.
