trans problem 97 12v a/t slips?

i have a 97 12v a/t trans. w/ only a small hp increase 30 lbs boost

trans does ok empty already added bd shift kit?
i pull a 6500 lb boat going up hills if i back off and it shifts into 3rd
and rpm drops i get a big shaking i back off to 8 lbs boost from 12 and it settles down but iam only going 30 mph up a small hill
if i get my speed up then 3rd is ok, it just does not like to upshift
into 3d or o/d
is it the od clutches or tork converter?
trk has 140 k miles but imler diesel says trans is pained so a rebuild was installed. i realize stock is no good. but i hate to spend 5000 for a
bd modified trans right now, local shop in sacramento says he can take it apart( diesel shop) should i go with suncoast converter
and go to goerend? trans some thing ABOUT TRIPLE LOCK
i only use this truck to towa boat. i like the nv4500's but wife
cant drive it, i had a 93 12v w/ a nv4500 and loved it
i bet a conversion is to expensive

who has done the 47 trans mods. if i do that i wil ladd maybe 50 hp more
not like my old 93 had(500)
thanks in advance, bill

sounds like converter shutter. turn up the line pressure a little but you should be fine with your mods on a single disc converter. if the converter is stocker, a goerend single disc should do you fine as long as you dont plan on doing much more than a fuel plate, gsk, and timing. My truck has a transgo shift kit and it work great, I dont have any experience with the BD kit but im sure its about the same.

Give Dave a call at goerends, if no answer leave a message and he will call you back and talk to you personally. He will never try to sell you anything you dont need. Very smart and nice guy to talk to. I have 2 of his transmissions now and love both of them

If you only do light towing you don't need much as long as you don't increase power much. I tow a 11,000 lb camper with a Goerend triple disk and valve body it works great, best money I ever spent. I like it so much i'm gonna put one (maybe a single disk) in my '90
