Tranny fluid

It was time to change the tranny fluid the other day, so went to the NAPA store for a case of atf plus 3 by Quaker state. No such luck. Was told they quit making it, can only get atf plus 4 now. They didnt even have any left in the warehouse. I went to car quest and found 12 quarts on the shelf and that was the last they had. Now the three is expensive enough but I was quoted a price of $7.00 a quart for the four. I guess next oil change I will have to bite the bullit and buy the expensive stuff which I expect will mix ok with whats in there now. Is it just us up here in Canada thats getting screwed or is there no more atf 3 being made in favor of the number four?

As recommended by most diesel tranny experts I use Dexron III plus two bottles of Lubegard black bottle = AFT+4. Been working great for over 200k.
Lubegard, $7 bottle from the autoparts, Dexron, 99¢/qt from Costco.

I agree with you that most tranny "experts" do this and recommend this, but I don't feel that you can convert a "dyno" based oil into synthetic with an additive. ATF+4 is a full synthetic.

Please correct me if I am wrong!!
