Tranny Doing some Funny Stuff

Lately my truck has been shifting very funky into overdrive. While cruising about 40-55 it will suddenly down shift. I notice the tach has been jumping around also. A few years back I replaced the crank position sensor because it had failed. However, when my crank sensor went haywire, I lost pretty much all of my normal electrical functions. Is there a t.p. sensor or am I possibly dealing with that **** crank sensor again? Thanks for the help.

There is a TPS. Here's how you can check it:

Sounds like the TPS to me. Mine bit the dust last week. $125 from Autozone and 3 minutes later problem solved. I know some people have had luck drilling a hole and cleaning the TPS with brake cleaner of some sort, but I didn't have time to try this and honestly feel better with a new one... Do a search for TPS and you will probably find more info than you ever wanted.

You can punch the little metal things out of the holes with a screwdriver and enlarge the hole a little so you can rotate the TPS counterclockwise to get the right voltage at idle and WOT. Don't go more than 1.2 v at idle. If your TPS is too far off spec this won't work.
