TPS check and or replace

Hey guys and gals i would like to know if there is a way to check the throttle position sensor. Last week i noticed that in over drive my TC was not locking up now its a brand new B.D. TC so im thinking of checking the TPS before checking the converter . If it is the TPS how hard are they to replace? Any info would be great thanks.

Easy way to isolate the problem is to add a TC lock up switch either temporarily or permanent

It's simple, instructions here http://www.tstproducts.com/Torque%20...p%20Switch.pdf

Try this first though http://dodgeram.org/tech/transmissio...TPS_adjust.htm

If you do have to replace the TPS it's simple and they are available at most autoparts at a fraction of dealer cost.
Some people have had luck just cleaning them with aerosol electronic cleaner. Personally I've found the results too short lived and just install a new one.

so if you replace the TPS,
1) is it just a remove old one/ install new one? or should the new one also be tested after the install for proper voltage? and possible adjustment?
2) is there any quality difference in the TPS part? or is it find the least expensive part, they are all made the same?
Thanks, Ken

They should be adjusted but you could luck out and have one land in the correct position the first time. It won't hurt anything to try. You should go though the adjustment procedure on your old one first though to determine if it is actually the problem. If it's a meter you're lacking one can be picked up at Radio Shack for under $20.

From what I've seen the autoparts and dealer TPS are made by the same company.
