How many of you 12V owners have had to replace your TPS?

I have!

Not really a pain, but you need to be able to juggle 3 parts at once, took probably all of 10 min. the first time, could do it in much less the next I think. 6 MM socket if IIRC.

My local parts stores were all higher then list at the dealership, so I found it online for 166 and then beat up my buddy the dealer, got it for 155.

The part number for my 97 is 04874412 if that is any help.

Loosen the mounting bolts, turn the TPS as far counter-clockwise as you can and tighten the bolts. Re-check your voltage. If it's still low you can remove the metal bushings in the holes and file the holes out a bit to let it turn more. If you do remove the bushings, be careful not to overtighten the bolts or the TPS will bind.

Oh BTW, I did replace mine once. Cheapest place was at the dealer buying it through work.

hello;
I was just quoted $265 at the dealer
My truck is paid for. I don't want to take out a loan to fix it!
Does the potentiometer trick work on second gen 12 valve rigs?
Oh yeah, for those who have done it. How much did you enlarge the holes on the TPS? 5/16"?

Did you check voltage at WOT? Here are some good instructions for testing and adjusting the TPS. http://www.dodgeram.org/tech/transmi...TPS_adjust.htm

I used a small round file and slotted the holes a bit.

Remember to check the sensitivity of the stoplight switch before looking into the TPS.
