torque plate question

Haven't put one in yet but seen conflicting comments about them. Some of you guys have removed the plate entirely with no problems, others are saying engine damage will result if it's removed completely. Been eyeing a 0 plate but if it won't damage my engine it'd be easier just to pull it entirely than dropping $300 on one. We have no emissions or inspections up here so it really don't matter with regards to smoke output.

Take a grinder to the stock plate. Grind it off flat, it's much cheeper than $300. You can buy a grinder for that much, if you dont have one. Have fun

No matter how small the chance of breaking something in the pump, I'd rather not risk it. I've never known someone that had damage result, but I trust Bill (Infidel)

You can get a grinder for under $100, and you will never want to go back to stock, it's easy to grind your own. I've never even seen a premade 0 or 100, I thought they were all home ground.

yep, dont think you'll find one pre-made. many run with out them and no probs. but it can happen. just like the KDP many run without tabing them and no probs. but like displacedtexan said why risk it. just run a deep #0 if you really need the fuel.

Alot of people say its an old wives tale. Take a grinder to the stock one and make either a #0 or a #100.

Keep the plate in...

Start off with a #10 profile then go to #100 if you don't have enough power... I think a #10 will fuel fine

I ran NO PLATE for 1 year but now I went to a ZERO! As stated above dont risk it I always wondered what was going on down in that pump with no plate just grind it to a #10 or so and you will be worry free!

See things my way for a change

with the torque plate... IF they are such a bad thing, why do many high HP trucks such as Maddogs and Jim Fulmers run them?

Rick, those guys don't know anything about making power

Great point.

Ok, looks like I'll be grinding it. Now the question is how much to remove and where without screwing it up. Seen the posts of pics for a 0 but right now I'm still running a stock clutch and don't plan on putting in a new one till the end of summer. If I go the full out will the clutch last if I'm not constantly hot rodding or does it not matter, just the increased power does the damage regardless of how I drive?

I made this "how-to" tech post recently about making a #100 plate for my truck. Follow the same procedure but grind it to the profile you prefer. Use the search function for "Fuel Plate" and you should be able to find the diagram showing the difference in the plates.

Thanks alot guys, between those 2 I shouldn't have any problems. But the remaining question is will going to a 0 plate damage a stock clutch if there isn't much "hot rodding" done? I have 12 miles of winding mtn road speeds are 35MPH with no chance of anything faster, then 11 miles of mtn highway where I can run up to around 60 but still really can let her stretch her legs much. Will just the added HP/Torque from this damage the clutch?
