Tired injection pump?

Ive got a 160hp pump and stock injectors with the mods and mileage in my sig.
Any way I can diagnose if the pump is running poorly and spraying the injectors at lower pressures? Seems like the oil goes black as pitch the moment I start the motor. My fuel economy is pitiful too.. 13mpg.
if theres no way to diagnose it besides putting it on a bench ($$$) I might just do the injectors first then the pump.

People don’t usually say tired and injection pump in the same sentence when talking 12 valves. lol What’s the Fuel Pressure? Could be an air leak, weak LP, overflow valve junked up filter ETC….

Fuel pressure is good 28psi at idle 30+ at 2000rpm no load. Just seems like its low on power and sooting the oil quickly. Im guessing poor fuel spray would do that. Nothing in the oil that I can tell. Might have it analyzed though.

What Injectors are you running, and how long has veggie oil been used?

I would say it is in your Injectors, not your P7100.

Its a well heated veggie system and its gotten low miles on the stuff so far, maybe about 5k. this winter has been all diesel and biodiesel with lots of power service. If its the injectors Id imagine theyre just old and not clogged. Guess I will try them anyways instead of throwing money at the pump.
I was hoping to get a bonus with a little higher injection pressure from the 215 pump too, but I cant find any real specs on pressure differences between the pumps. higher pressure should mean better atomization with a slightly thicker fuel.

I would check the injectors before the IP. I have over 30,000 miles on WVO and do not feel any less difference myself. I will be checking the pressures on the Injectors soon.

As far as your oil sooting up just be careful your not switching too soon to the vo because that will have that effect.

Ditto on the injectors. I would bet the spray pattern is poor. and letting raw fuel migrate to the oil. I do not use veg. oil but all that I have read says to not switch over till the engine is completly warmed up and to switch back to diesel 5 min. before shutdown.

kawi600, the Injection pressure is set by the Injector, not the pump unless there is an issue where it will not create enough pop pressure. Thats why it would be a good thing, especially with those miles to have then worked on and they can set the pressure to whatever you want.
