timing bump on stock engine good idea???
just wondering if a slight bump in timing would help or hurt anything on a bone stock engine, both my trucks are stock except exhaust. i will be turning up the fuel but just slightly on both. does it matter if i do at now or before after fuel is turned up? any input will be appreciated?

The only reason the stock timing is as low as it is is because of EPA mandated emissions laws.
12 valve engines used in other applications have timing set from 15-22° with higher numbers used in steady rpm applications like boats.
Bumping your timing up to 15-16° will increase power and mpg without harming the engine.
You'll just make more smog but it will be barely visible to the naked eye.

CPL is only relevant if you have the stock pump. If its a used truck, its possible that the pump has been swapped at some point, so its good to check the tag on the pump under the throttle linkage assembly. Last 3 digits in the 10 digit number should be either 838, 841 or 854.
