Would someone please post a pic of the outer throttle tension/return spring? I discovered mine was broken when I was replacing the seal between the vaccum and power steering pumps. When I finished getting everything back together, I took what was left of the spring and managed to bend some of it so it would accept the original clips that are normally on the ends of the spring. Pedal pressure just feels too high now and I know I weakened the spring bending the end of it straight to thread the clip back on. So, I'm hoping to get a pic so I can get a good idea what the original length was and find something to replace it with before it breaks again. Thanks!!!

I would, but mines been hanging free on one end since I got the truck.

My wife has my 97 hauling hay but in a few hours she'll be back and I'll try to get a pic. It's a tight spot to work in. I replaced my throttle springs a few years ago and may still have part numbers. I'll check and post back. My springs were missing and the truck would buck like crazy with a very touchy throttle. The springs fixed it but I'm not sure which ones I replaced.

I found my receipt from Cummins:

I ordered:

1 each of PN 3925377 Spring, tension $4.52
2 each of PN 3931510 Spring, tension. $11.67 ea x 2= $23.52

Total was $27.86 before tax.

AS I remember the one spring was bigger than the other 2 and the smaller ones had snapon plastic connectors that fit on the ball studs of linkage.

I have heard of guys just buying a universal throttle spring kit at auto parts store and using that.

Thanks for the part #'s. The spring has those small plastic connectors. I was able to bend part of the spring straight and thread it through the plastic snap connector, but, I don't know how long it will hold. Honestly, I like how it felt with just the one spring. I effectively shortened the spring by bending a piece of it straight to get throught the connector. It worked, but, increased the tension too much. Thanks for the help!

As the pic shows, the 2 springs with the grey plastic snapon end are on different ball studs on each end. I had a hard time trying to figure it out when I finally got the right springs because apparently they are different on other years.

Edit: Taking another look, the ballstuds on each end of each spring are on ball studs that are back to back on the same bracket point so both springs are effectively in parallel but not inside each other as on your 95.

Dave, those are the same springs that are on mine. The outer spring is what broke on mine. The plastic connectors were still there...one with the spring still attached and the other still hooked on the ball end. It finally stopped raining here(it started raining when I saw the spring was broke), so, I was able to get back under the hood and check it out. I realized the outer and inner were the same and your pics confirmed it. I'll see if I can still get those from Cummins on Monday. Thanks again for the part numbers and pics!!!

What year?

I am told that the set up is different between a standard transmission and an automatic and just wanted to verify. Thanks.
