Throttle sticking

I am trying to help a friend with a problem with his throttle sticking. He says it only sticks till it warms up then it is fine. The truck is a 97 2500 4x4 ex cab auto. Does anyone have an idea where to start he says he thinks it is in the pump. I am going to look at it tonight and see for myself.

Most likely just a rusted or gunked up linkage that needs to be cleaned up and lubed.
The throttle cable can also fray and cause sticking but isn't effected by temperature.

Cable and linkages also had a recall that may have never been done.
You can check here, you will need the VIN> http://www.dodge.com/webselfservice/...ilForm(%27R%27)

I looked up the vin and it says there are 2 recalls that were never done. One for the throttle linkage and the other was for the hood latch.

When the pump lever isn't attached to the linkage and the return springs, it has no returnability at all. The lever will also feel more notchy with the engine not running. As mentioned, the common cause is the ball sockets on the linkage rod. Also make sure the return spring hasn't fallen off.

Normal for a 12 valve pump to very stiff if the engine isn't running.
It takes the governor weights to be spinning to loosen up.
