throttle linkage recall

i just bumped the timming on my 97 and was looking at how bad the throttle linkage is. so i did some fumbling around and found this.
I went by the info from http://dodgeram.info/ which lists recall B#15 for 1997 models.
Recall #970 covered models 94-96 and I'm not sure how much they replaced
at the trd. anyone know of a recall on 97s? i fumbled around and couldn't find any info.
thanks mike

Im not exactly sure what number the recall is on but I just had mine done last week and the only thing it covers are the 2 ends of the linkage nothing in between. It is a 97 3500

Re:throttle linkage recall

Had Recall B15 for my 98. Call your local dealer with your VIN and they will be able to tell you all the recalls your truck is affected by. I received a notice in the mail which alerted me to the recall.

As a side note... during the repair of the linkage they have to check and adjust the TPS on an automatic equipped truck. Mine had started the dreaded "lock-unlock-lock" thing and the TPS adjustment solved that as a bonus.

Re:throttle linkage recall

Pretty much all 94-98's with the 7100 pump are involved.

Re:throttle linkage recall

Be sure to check the rod ends to make sure they are tight.
The tech must have been in a hurry to get mine done.
Both ends were loose, causing the rod to swing down and hang up on the pump.
The throttle was stuck at about 2100 while I was towing my skidsteer.
That was a little eye opener trying to stop about 16,000#
getting off a ramp with cars stopped at the end.
Ended up throwing the truck in neutral and hoped it didn't rev past 3000!
After I cleaned out my shorts, I opened the hood and tightened the rod ends finger tight to get off the road.
Then proceeded to tighten them up in a parking lot and they have been fine ever since.
The moral of the story, always check the truck after it has been worked on by yourself or someone else.

Sorry for being so long winded.

Re:throttle linkage recall

chuck,

I to have a 97' 3500, there was a recall, they sent me a notice by mail and I had it taken care of. Replaced the cable. I'm sure if you would go to your local dealer they could help you out. Before you drive off after the repair, look under the hood, and make sure the upper radiator hose isnt tucked under the fan blade. They push it down to get more room to work, and yes sometimes forget to pull it back up, I was one of the ones that they forgot on.
