Thinking ahead on next set of tires...

I was looking at the Michelin XPS tractions for rear, and the XPS Rib for steer tires. I know Michelins are higher, but you get what you pay for (especially compared to Goodyears). The nice thing about these tires... they can be re-capped for use as drive tires. Not many 215/85R16 tires out there that can be recapped, to my knowledge.

I've also seen the Toyo HT series mentioned. (forget the toyo's, they only come in D rating.)

Any others worth looking into? I'm looking for long wear, and great traction in mud or even wet grass (which my Michelin LTX A/S lack). Ribbed front treads preffered, All tires need to be load range E.

What about the toyo M-55's? I have heard good things about them.

The 235/85r16 are E rated.

Their showing my tire size as load range D. Otherwise, looks like a good tread design. My tire size is 215/85R16.

I don't recall the size but I had some Toyos on my last truck and they had an E Rating. I don't remember the model either.

Must be that CRS acting up again.

What about Bridgestone Dualer A/T Revo's.........they are rated higher than michelins at tire rack, and I've had more people recommend them to me.

I got them, and I really like them.

I have BFG Commercials on my '99. I will not buy them again. They seem to be wearing fine, but they will lock with a slight push on the brakes. I was looking at some Maxxis. www.maxxistires.com They have a pretty good looking line of tires. I know they are good in the Dirt Bike world and for Rock Crawlers butI have not personally had a set.

You could always step up to a 235/85 instead of a 215/85 not much of a difference in size

Difference is 30.39 x 8.5 inches to 31.73 x 9.3 inches

My local tire dealer (southern Indiana tire) lists the revos as load range D. Maybe they can special order? I'm getting frustrated... thinking about sticking w/ the LTX A/S. I had no trouble in the snow w/ them... they just don't like wet grass. They will, however throw rooster tails in unplanted beanfields! (I had to re-calibrate the digital compass in the overhead.)

THe michelin XPS tires have a max speed of 75mph, and they won't handle as good as the LTX A/S, but their wear rating is higher.

I feel like I'm chained to a set of railroad tracks w/ a bullet train 1/4 mile away comin at me!

I'm really hoping to stick to the stock tire size... went through alot of BS to get the right speedo gear, since the P/O took his O/D unit off and stuck whatever he had in there.

Here's what my local tire store has available (well, the only local store I trust): http://www.tiredealersites.com/south...=0&option=5110

I'm checking out the maxxis site now...

I liked the looks of a couple of maxxis's tires, but no local dealer.

I always recommend the Michelin LTX A/T. Great manners like the A/S, but much better traction, and good wear. I'm not sure if it is available in 85 series though.

Same here. The closest was 250 miles. I looked at Discount Tires web site and they sell them. They don't list the tires Iwas interested in though. They only listed the Crawler tire and a trailer tire. It did say they can order them. I'll have to go by and check on one.

The LTX only comes in load range D in my size. THis sucks... why can't more tires come in load range E for the stock tire size on these trucks?!?!
