Question Surge at low load/med RPM

I put in my 3 K GSK last week and now the truck runs great except under very light throttle or load it surges really bad.If you are accelerating it is fine but if you try to ease the gas to it it bucks and surges.Do I need to adjust something after the 3k kit?

Thanks,Randy

If your idle RPM is a little lower after installing the 3KGSK you need to tighten the spring retainer nuts one or two clicks and then adjust your idle down to 750. Also be sure both nuts are equal depth from the top of the stud.

I was wondering if it was the spring adjustment because it is really hard to measure the stud height with the caliper down in the pump.My idle actually went up after the install and I lowered it down to about 800-850 with the AC turned on.What do you use to adjust the retainer nut I found it difficult with just a screwdriver like the kit said.

Thanks,Randy

If your idle went up a lot you have the nuts too tight (which seems like the problem since you had to adjust down and you are still up at 850). If it went up a little maybe the nuts are not equal. If your nuts are equal I don't have an answer.

Find a Chinese socket of about the right diameter and grind it to make two nibs to engage the nuts. Don't grind your Snap-on.

Go in through the gov spring plug on the side of the pump ... much easier to set them there than removing the plate and doing it from the top of the pump
