Stripped Pre heater/filter bowle
Help,
Tried to remove the pre heater bowl. Did this before. Now the darn thing stipped when trying to turn it. I used a 17mm socket... There appears to be fin's on the bowl. If there's a tool that would allow me to turn the bowl off this way it should work. I want to eliminate the heater.

I have a unique strap wrench that has a strap attached to a short piece of square tube, it slips over a ratchet or extension. I have seen them for sale at Advanced auto. It is close to a faucet wrench.

I was just thinking of trying that. Looks like I could reach it from above. I have pleanty of exensions. If I understand the bowl screws off CW and not CCW. That would looking at it from above into the engine compartment.

Its a right hand thread. So from above, you would turn it CW. There are lots of ribs on it. You could try giving it a tap with a hammer and a drift. Don't beat on it. But if some light taps get it moving, you're good. Could also try a filter wrench if you can find one of the appropriate size.

Help..
Tried all the above. No go..Made up a nifty tool to turn via the fin's. Grunted on it and felt movement. Yipe.. gulp.... The heater/filter bracket broke. Feel like the side next to the lift pump. I've had It... I really need to know the fitting size on the inlet into the pre/heater filter (from tank). I'm going to plumb it directly into the lift pump and put a inline pre filter from tank to lift pump and take the pre/heater ***.. out...

You should be able to get the size once it is removed? I believe it is 1/2 inch hose? Can't you cut the threaded ends and hose clamp a section of hose between he two?

Since this is my only truck I was looking to get the supplies when I go into town monday... The hose Is 1/2 inch, but won't you have to step down from 5/16 to 1/2 inch? I'm looking to compleatly remove the pre heater/filter ***... and plumb from tank inlet from filter strait to Lift pump inlet.
