Speedo and Sensor

First of all, sorry if I am over-posting.

They are distinct questions however.

My speedo works fine. My brake and ABS lights are on.

I read in the forums that there may be a sensor in the transfer case as well.

Is it possible that the speedo can still work if the rear sensor is bad?

Thanks in advance,

-ultra

Transfer case has no sensor. Speedo can work, sometimes reasonablly correctlly.

Fair enough.

Is there any established, tried-and-true diagnostic procedure for the lights on?

ABS code-pull first?

The older trucks (such as yours) does infact have a sensor in the t-case (or tranny, in 2wds). I don't know if its related to the ABS system or not like in the 98+ trucks, so it may have nothing to do with your lights. Are they on from the get go, or do they come on after driving it for a while (past a certain speed)?

They are on 100% of the time.

I just figured out how to ground the wire to get the codes and it just blinks a repeating 7.

The regular brakes are phenomenal though.

Code 7 seems lousy.

What's the most efficient way to eliminate all the ABS stuff? Remove it and put in some lines going through?

I honestly don't need any warning lights for brakes, I can sense everything I might need to know through the controls.

Pull the ABS relay in the underhood fuse box.
The lights will stay on but the ABS won't work.

Actually, I had thought of just eliminating all of it but disabling wouldn't be a bad option necessarily.

Could I easily have brake light functional with ABS disabled and maybe ABS bulb pulled? The only thing I can think of use for brake light for is if wife drives truck and doesn't know e-brake is on.
