Need more than that. Year of truck, color of wire, etc.

Sounds like a fusible link. Trace where the wire goes, found out what it is, then replace it with the right fusible link. Could be the fusible link from the grid heaters, or the shutoff solenoid. Both common on these trucks. I know the shutdown solenoid fusible link is a 65amp. If the engine starts up and turns off fine, then it's likely the manifold grid heater relays.

AFAIK, the only feeds directly off the battery are to the starter, the grid heater, the fuel shut off solenoid and to the PDC. All of them draw much more than 15 amps. Corrosion in the wire will increase resistance in the wire and will heat up when current is applied.

Normal -when it does not do that then it is time to be concerned.
If you are working the truck hard then the temp might stay up at 180.

The grid heater fusable links are black. Not your problem. The 97 has two smaller wires that go into a common loom. One is an orange fusable link that is connected to a red/tan wire. It sends power to the fuel heater relay that is mounted on the firewall. The other is a dark blue fusable link that is connected to a red/black wire. I think this is the wire you are speaking of. It goes to the fuel shutdown relay that is mounted on the firewall to the right (as you are looking at it from the front) of the fuel heater relay. Power out of the relay to the fuel shutdown solenoid is a red/violet wire. Do you need more info than this to trouble shoot?

Seems like if his truck is running fine it must be the fuel heater link.
Since it's blowing I'd leave it be before the heater melts the connector causing a fuel leak.
Lot of folks running with no fuel heaters due to the problems they cause.

That is where I'm confused. He never said if the truck is running. If it is, I'd recommend removing the entire fuel heater assy. I removed mine and it wasn't causing any problems, just wanted to get it out of the system. I haven't been to the great white north since then though.

In his first post he said everything still works.
I assumed that meant the truck was running.
