single wheel on dually

hey everyone!! Im gonna throw one at ya! As i mentioned before, I have a 94 3/4 ton that was partially coverted to a dually. ( dually box and wheels in back but stock rims up front) . I have a ? and want to see what most of you think. Thought about buying those mickey thompson simulated beadlock wheels but 16x8s in the front and just going with a 16x10 in the rear with some wide meats. Now, i really dont pull much more than a car trailer so the weight issue isnt really there for me. What do you guys think??

I don't know what you want to end up with, but if you want the dually type of wheel on the front, all you need are the adapters off of a factory dually.

The rotor is the same, the duallys just have a spacer that bolts on. You can find a parted out dually somewhere, or dealership parts department.

I'm speaking of 2wd trucks here, I didn't see any mention of 4wd in your post or signature. I don't know if 4wd trucks used the dually spacer in the front or not, I haven't taken the front wheels off of my 94 yet.

a looong time ago I had considered slamming a dually and putting wide meats on the back... Weld makes (made) a 15x14 wheel with 8x6.5" pattern and 0 offset, perfect for a dually.. But the tires you'd run would be those 18" wide Mickey thompson Sportsmans... but it would look

Generic Motors has an option for the commercial trucks for a super single rear tire. I guess it is about the size of the dually set but only one tire, from what I hear it isn't selling all to well. I've never seen one on the roads.

Looks great but I can't see how it'd cope with water or snow.

What's the point of those spacers on the front wheels of duallys anyways? The wheel backspacing puts the tire in the same spot, so why even bother? It doesn't seem like it would change anything, weight, turning radius, if anything it seems like it'd put more stress on the bearings because of the added leverage,,,I don't get it.

The snow and rain wouldnt reallly be a factor. We dont have any bad rain storms around here that put down THAT much rain. As for snow, We get the biggest kick around here watching everyone trying to drive when the snow finally hits. Some times I think maybe we invented the newest sport ( drifting) while cruising around on the weekends being bored. Aint nothing like walkin sideways with a dually while watching the white stuff fly off the front tires!!

The spacer on the front wheel combined with the bud wheels puts the weight of the truck right over the bearing and so DECREASES the lerverage.

With the other reason being that they don't need to have a spare for the front and rear, this way you already have 3 spare tires with you.

The paranoid drivers are such a PITA though, I wish they'd just drive off into the ditch and let the rest of us keep on going. Nothing like some guy doing 20 in a 55 when everyone else is going 40.
