Shutdown solenoid
My truck is 1996 2500 and I am having problems with the fuel solenoid and I'd could use some help troubleshooting the wiring going to the solenoid or the solenoid itself. Any leads would be app'd.
Thanks

One thing that happened to me......my shut down solenoid would not open I would open my hood with the key on and lift the solenoid to start my truck
After a while this got old so I ordered a new solenoid and relay from LarryB's.....installed them and still had the same problem.....checking things out I found a wire at the left battery terminal that was corrode fixed it and solved my problem
Heres a link to a wiring diagram

See I have trouble with it too. But it seems that I only have trouble with it whenver it is cold outside? Like if its hot, it works just fine, but like it was 29 the other morning and I had to maually do it. I sprayed some tri-flo (like WD-40) on the solenoid, without taking it off and worked it back and forth, hoping it would fix it. How do I take it off? I took the two bolts off the top, on the AFC housing, but it didnt come off? Do you think its a wire problem or is it gummed up?

Thanks Guys
Thanks for the reply to my question about ATC Solenoid and a great big thanks for the wiring diagram. I bought the truck in July as a somewhat fixer upper. The body is spotless except the bottom of the doors. The engine has more towing power than I ever felt. But But the trans (auto) needed some TLC. Mounting bolts for torque converter to flex plate had come loose and sheared out the holes and a couple of the threaded blocks on the converter were broken off hanging on by the bolts. Put new blocks on the converter made some special washers for flex plate for new holes and cut a clearance track or groove to clear the new washers and bolt heads in the adapter plate on the back of the engine. The fix turned out well every thing worked HONEST.
