shift kit ?
Well all i have on my truck for now is whats in my sig but i feel that my trans and TC are slipping away what power i got. My question is are they worth it, im short on cash and would like it if i could use a shift kit vs. a new TC and VB for obvious reasons $$$. Also if i were to get ahold of a TC in the future would the shift kit with the stock VB be good with the new TC.
i realize that a shift kit is not the real answer but its whats in the price range.
hers what im lookin at if any one could let me know what one would be the best. http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...view=sku#rstop

depending on your mechanical skills you can modify your own valve body with a transgo shift kit and the instructions that come with them. I left mine to a tranny specialist so its done right but by boring some holes and tweaking a few things he increased the line pressure to hold more power on a locked converter and the shift pressure so you dont get the "did the tranny just shift?" feeling, it lets you know after the kit. You should be fine with the kit for a while but when you get a converter down the road, get a tripple disc with a high efficiency rating (90-93%). I made the mistake of going cheap on a single disc billet and I can get it to slip if I try when towing.

the link you provided does not come with install instructions or a video. I have the instructions back home that were used on my truck, i could scan them or something but you cant do much of anything without some kind of instructions. They show you what to drill and how big to drill it and what effects the drilling has on the performance. Looks like the kit has the resistor for the line pressure sensor, springs for changing the shift speed and gaskets. I would prefer the video but we all learn differently. Good luck my friend.

i would take it in and have a trans shop do it cause i know nothing about trans so the install part would not consern me, i would need to let them know what i want done though, i might not buy the kit from summit but that page showed the different kits and was wondering what the difference between them is and what one is the best.
you siad you had yours installed, how much was it just for the install.
thanks for the info

well i had my friend do the tranny so he cut me a break. I dropped the truck off and picked it up, he dropped the tranny and all that stuff. He modded the valve body, replaced clutches with HD clutches and re-did some seals along the way, and put in a billet single disc converter for $1500. If you could find a local performance tranny shop im sure you could get it done for 300-350 if you just drop off the valve body.

when i get around to buyin the kit ill make sure to call around to see what shops around here can do for me. some claim to have/install ups for dodge diesel trans, ill see.
also do you know what the difference in the kits are, some are "full race" and others say "street" and they have different prices.
thanks for the help.
