Talking serious bombing a 12v!!!!!!!!!

My bro wrecked his power stroke and thinks it might be totaled so if it is then he wants a std cab 4x4 5spd 12v with a 215 pump and seriously bomb it. What kind of money we talking and where is a good parts supplier? We want max streetable performance on diesel fuel but still reasoonably well reliability. Thanks.

About $10,000.

studs and orings, $700
Head (rebuilt with valve springs) $500
Injectors, $300-$900
Clutch, $1800
Turbo (single) $1800
Compound Turbos, $3000-$5000

Misc. junk $1000-$2000

Thats to get about 600+ hp.

After that its just a matter of the drivetrain holding.

If he wants a FAST truck go with an AUTO! You cant shift a manual as fast as an AUTO. The fastest manual right now only runs a 12.56 in the 1/4. He also has 670hp with ALOT of nirous.

sounds good to me. I figured $6000- $7000 assuming we do all of the work. Is that RWHP or crank hp?

Everything is RWHP.
BTW, you can do 525 with a Super Phat Shaft 62 with some BIG injectors DDP4s or New Era 435s. This combo has been proven before. It will be very streetable and FUN.

$7000 sounds about right if your staying with a single.

I checked into those sites you gave me and the cheapest turbo i found was like $1400 without a down pipe and the turbos were rated for a max of 625 hp or so. I think the BD was the same housing and came with a down pipe and I think it made 675 or so for $1300 am I missing something?

Also, if you're gonna do an Auto, figure 6K for a tranny...or about $2500 for a DD clutch and input shaft for the 5 spd

Those turbo ratings don't mean crap for 12v's...12v's need LOTS of air, since the heads don't flow worth a crap, and the injection pressure is considerably lower than the CR's and newer VP44 24v's!

So what do I look for in a turbo? And how do I go about using O-rings? does the block need cut or are the grooves already there?

Jeff Prince (I think that was his name) was hitting 11's with a 5 spd in a reg cab dually. No doubt that an auto shifts faster, especially when comparing to a DD clutch.

Jeff was still in the 12's. I talked to him about a year ago and he said the truck probably had an 11 in her if the clutch and trans. wold stay together.
Since then he has gone to an auto.

Depends, I bought a Dual Disc from Peter at SBC and he threw the 1 3/8" shaft in for free.
I paid $1895 shipped from him.

Also, Forrest Nearing did 525 with a SPS 62 and DDP4s in a manual truck.

BD likes to STRECH the truth ALOT!
Like I sad all the S300 turbos are common stock Borg Warner parts.

Doesnt matter if you get it from BD, HTT or II, they are all the same.

Idustrial advertises 800hp from the silver bullet 66. You sure you looked at all the turbos?
HTT advertises 675 from the pro street 66.
BDs biggest single is only good for 525 according to them an it costs $1625. Also, I dont see anywhere on thier website saying it comes with a downpipe.

The BD does come with a down pipe for the 94-02 app. and the other ones I found say they need a down pipe. I probably didn't look at all of the turbos but the ones I did look at the highest horse I found advertised was 650 for $1900 and the BD B special I believe was $1600 and did come with a down pipe and was 550-675 I think, or right in there. I thought it was the best bargain if it did what they said it did. I don't know. I've never upgraded a truck turbo before so I don't know what works good but the insurance guy just now called and my brother's truck is getting fixed, not totaled so he'll probably keep it. plans might be off but it was good info anyway, I'd still like to know if noone minds.

The Super B is an S300G with an adjustable actuator 57mm compressor 65mm turbine with a 0.80AR cast iron turbine housing (57/65/14) High Tech Turbos version is called the HTBG.
The Super B Special has a 64mm compressor 71mm turbine and a 0.80AR cast iron turbine housing.(64/71/14) High Tech version is called the Quick Diesel 64.

Look around for prices. One quick search and I found the HTT HTBG for $1000 and the HTT QD64 for $1500.

Also HTT and Industrial advertise the 64/71/14 at 525-600hp. On a 12 valve you will be at the lower end because the head cant flow as well as the 24 valve and CR trucks.
BD advertises 550-625hp.

FWIW. I noticed a HUGE increase in power when I got my NEW cylinder head stage 2 ported and polished. The flow charts make a p&p 12 valve head flow more than a 24 valve head.

Im also didnt see the fine print on BDs site about the downpipe.

Also, HTT prices sure have gone up!
Last year I paid $1100 for my 62/14 WITH the downpipe, BRAND NEW.

Also, keep your eye out for group buys. DPP just had an Industrial group buy and you could get a SPS62 for $1300 and the Silver62 for $1700.

They went up right around April last year. I was gonna get a stainless HTT from Doug at PDW. Ended up getting the SPS since it was cheaper than the HTT without the stainless.
