Im curious as to what you guys use to seal brass couplings instead of teflon tape (which turns to goop once the fuel hits it).
Plumbers pipe dope maybe? or silicone RTV?
Also has anyone here replaced the metal lines from the tank completely with hoses and what are your opinions on that?

What about the oddball plastic push-in connectors on the fuel sender assembly?

i used the push on plastic barbed fittings and slid the new hose onto the barbs then hose clamped for good measure. one was 5/16 hose the other 3/8.

Ahh, so the fuel sender assembly has the pickup and return that have push-on connectors with barbs and theres a short rubber section that joins to the steel lines? I think thats what I saw in there last time I dropped the tank.
Ive got it down to about 15gallons now I think I might try this again tomorrow if I can find a local source for good fuel hose.
Any recommendations on where to find USCG-rated diesel fuel hose online if not?

I get it here but am on the westside of the country, you may be able to find something closer especially being near the coast.

Permatex #2 is cheap, easily available and works excellent for thread sealant.
