Hey dodge diesel brothers, had a question. What is a safe maximum rpm to run my 97-dodge stock? The red line starts at 3,000 but if I ‘m going up a on ramp and want to pass a ford and drop it into second what rpm could I safely go up to?2,800? Advance thanks Chris

 

The engine is governed, with a stock pump you can't over-rev it. Just floor it and shift when it stops pulling. The redline is meaningless.

 

Thats cool, what is the max if the pump was changed

 

Pump was changed and springs were changed depending on which springs you went with would either be 3200 or 4000.

 

with a stock pump will it over heat the engine at all or cause damage to the pump itself?

 

Hasn't hurt mine any !

You just don't want to trash it at 4k on a daily basis.
