Right Torque Converter

Right Torque Converter
After all of the research I have done on this site, I have determined that my truck is due for a new torque converter. It is basically stock at this point, but I would like to get it up to around 300 hp after I get out of school and make some money. I was looking on ebay and saw some "heavy duty", lower stall torque converters for around 400 dollars with one made by Phoenix Performance. Is this sufficient, or should I save up for a high dollar one (BD, Suncoast)? Any help would be much appreciated.

i would go with a little overkill on the converter so you dont have to buy another one down the road. you will eventually put a lockup switch on your truck and be over 300 hp (trust me). i would go with a double or tripple disc so you never have to worry bout it again. 12v mods are cheap and addicting.

Are there any restrictions on who can install it for warranty purposes? I was reading some prior posts that touched on these restrictions, and I was wondering if someone could shed more light on it. My first choice is Goerend, but I don't want to drive across the country for installation. Thanks so far for the help.

I would go with a triple loc tourque converter. and a new valve body. it's a little expensive but worth it in the long run. DTT makes great triple loc tourque converters and valve bodies I run that in my truck.

When you ordered your DTT setup, were you allowed to have anyone install it? I have heard about warranty restrictions, but don't know the details. What is the warranty that DTT offers? Their prices are competitive, so I would definitely consider them.

I had modesto transmission install it but I really didn't talk warranty about it with them. Modesto transmission is a dealer for suncoast but i did not want that DTT gave me a way better deal. I got a VB TC heavy duty rebuild kit, and valve body installation kit for 2700 and thatr was all overnighted too. I figured after my 3rd tranny this year i better take it easy. This is my 1st DTT tranny the other 2 were built by a local shop in stockton that screwed me over. I did have a friend get a complete tranny from DTT a while back, a complete and i think it was 2 years but i forget the milage. but that was back in 04 or 05. but they are great tranny's. and mine runs really cool and i still have the stock cooler. I run about 130 degrees and stop and go it gets to 150 maybe. so that nice not worrying about heat.

I don't think there are any restrictions on Daves warrenty, that is unless you screw up completly and ruin the parts. I don't think you will have a problem installing them yourself just take your time and do it right.....
