removeal of engine vib damper
So I have the radiator hose off, fan housing & shoud off, and tring to take off the vib damper.
What is the best way? the damper turns as I try to loosen the 4 bolts. I am thinking of putting the belt on, clamp it tight, and this might work. I dont have a baring tool, but maybe I need one? Your help is welcome. I am replacing all the hoses at the same time.

There should be a small cover on the flywheel housing on the passenger side that has 2 bolts. Remove that cover and you should be able to access the flywheel gear and use a pry bar to hold the flywheel from turning. Putting the belt back on sometimes works if it isn't too tight. Make sure you remove the tach sensor before you remove the damper. It doesn't like to be bonked by the damper. Good luck

MrKen: On the damper you will notice there is a cut on the OD (like a square slot) cut front to back of the damper. Place a long screwdriver or similar tool or bar that will react against this slot and the ground. This will prevent the damper from turning as you remove the four bolts. This works in place of a barring tool.
