red dye diesel?
alright so i got a 97 2500 and its got also 124,000 miles on it. a buddy of mine uses red dye offroad diesel for his tractor for farm work and he gets a huge container shipment that lasts him forever. well what i was wondering was could i run red dye offroad diesel in my truck with it having a 124,000 miles on it? would it mess up the engine or clog the injectors or anything?

It wont hurt your truck, its the same fuel just with a red dye added so it can be detected and isnt charged road tax. We run the same stuff in brand new $300,000 combines and tractors. I have ran a few gallons in my truck before but dont get caught running it because it is a big $$$$$$$$$$$ fine

the only difference that I know of is red still has more PPM they just switched to 500 ppm for offroad and onroad is 15 ppm and if you run heating oil you get 1000ppm. If you run heating oil you need additive but it makes your truck run awsome. Just don't get caught

as stated above the red dye diesel is no different than the stuff you buy at the pump just make sure that it is a good quality fuel and going into a good tank as with your buddys tank you run the risk of algae growth and water in the tank if it's not turned over frequently (treating the fuel helps) do be careful as some companies use much more additives in the winter fuel for home heating oil that is also red that is not as great for the truck.

it wont harm anything, we run the off road diesel in our concrete pumps every day and would get fired for putting it in the trucks. the reason is the fine in california is $10,000.00 for using un taxed fuel in a vehicle used on road. dont tell anybody if you decide to run it.

Rotella 15w-40 is motor oil that you run in your truck, what these guys are talking about is heating oil. Heating oil is used for heating houses and shops and so forth. Again the red dye wont hurt your truck, it wont hurt a common rail either because we run it in new tractors and combines that are common rails but just dont get caught running it, I think it is a $2500 dollar fine in Indiana. They can probe your tank anytime and anywhere, I was at a local tractor pull one time in my old f-350 stroker and got my tanked probed before I could leave the parking lot. I have also been probed in a semi before waiting in line at an elevator but they really go after farm trucks because they are more prone to run it and they can fine them more $$$$$$$$. Dont tell many people your running it, kinda keep that to yourself.

Do you use Off Road or Died Karosine? I have run off road and it runs a little better with some more pep then reg #2. I don't know why but it runs better and its only $2.99G at a pump. ( just use a 5 gallon race can jug left over from my dirt bike jugs because it can't be put in vehicles with license plates)

IMHO red diesel runs a lot better in our year trucks. They can damage the newer trucks because of all the emissions junk on them. where I am in wyoming they already have an anti gel additive in it because of the -20 degree weather.
