Rear shudders under accel.... HELP!
I just went through a huge ordeal changing out my carrier bearing, replaced all u-joints on rear driveshafts, and got new slip yoke. It drives fine except there is a relatively violent shudder when i accelerate in 2nd gear. It is not vehicle speed related. Seems to be coming from behind the cab. May be doing it in other gears, but i can't really tell. 2nd is very noticable. any suggestions

This may or may not have anything to do with your problem but...
After I rebuilt, well had rebuilt, my trans I started having a violent shake when I accelerated from 60-65mph under heavy throttle with my trailer. Since I noticed this shortly after the trans work I called the builder and asked if he had any ideas. He says oh yeah sometimes we see that. He suggested I lower my carrier bearing. Starting with 1/2 inch and then go in 1/4 inch increments from there until it stops. Well there was just enough thread on the stock bolts to lower it about 1/2 an inch (just stuck a nut between the center carrier bearing and the crossmember on each of the 4 bolts). That fixed my problem. What was happening was the pinion angle was getting to great and was binding the ujoints from the center carrier back to the diff due to spring wrap. I have since added traction bars and it is very solid now. No spring wrap at all. Why it didnt do it before the trans work I dont know but have since found out it is not unheard of and have run across several others that have had the same problem.

barryg I love you so much, you have saved the day man
I went with almost 1/2" just for a test run and it still is there, but not nearly as much. I am going to try spacing the bearing assembly itself, i have a feeling it will cure the problem. You are a lifesaver man
