Rear axle nut "keeper" option

Hi, i just replaced the rear axle seals and i need new "keepers" -small slotted steel pin that hold the axle nut in place and from backing off. The *********** wants $13. ea.for em, and can't get em in til next week. Is there a Napa/parts store number for em??? I need to get back to work ASAP!

When I've bought them at Nata they were actually Ford parts.
Cost $2 for a package of them.

axle keeper

I read some where a fellow posted that you can replace the nylock nut and keeper with the double nut and retainer that was used many years ago. If the nut backs off it can cause you a lot of problems. Jim

If the nut goes on easy by hand then replace them too. The left side nut will unscrew and you will loose the wheel, so be safe and replace it and bite the bullet.

yup, did exactly that and got the keepers from the dealer. Parts guy couldn't believe the price and discounted to a somewhat reasonable amount, still not pricey, but for what you get... is rediculous!!! Couldn't find them aftermarket.

I got these parts from the HELP parts book they listed them as Ford pieces.
