quiet?

quiet?
anyway to quiet the 12 valve motors down? I am used to a Common Rail, so the mechanical fuel injection takes some getting used to.
I put a single layer of Dynamat under the cowl, and i took the dash apart and put as much as I could under there. I plan on covering the doors and the underside of the hood with Dynamat or some other sound deadener.
I also took the fuel heater off, because I was told that it leaked air and liked to catch on fire.
I do not want to put a fuel pump (FASS or Airdog) on it, I am pretty broke
Thanks

Dynamat all around is probably your best bet. You have the stock exhaust on and you still think it's too loud??
What was your experience with the dynamat? I was thinking about using some all over the interior too.

I did 3 layers of soundproofing on the WHOLE interior, floors, walls, roof everywhere.
It mad a HUGE difference. My daughter says they we can now talk to each other in it.
I still want to do the hood.
If its an extended cab, pull the back seat out and youll be surprised. BARE METAL!

sorry, I have a 4" Magnaflow exhaust. I can hear the motor over the exhaust, which is what I was trying to quiet down. I will put a few layers anywhere I can, thanks fellas.
anyone pulled up the carpet? is it hard?

WUnderwood, I can feel for you exactly !!!
I am in same position, going from a superquiet 3rd gen to a 12v.
I was hoping to find more answers here, but I will have to divert to the dynomat too. I am going to try 2 inline mufflers on the exhaust to see if it quiets it more.

On my 97 the gasket between the hood and the cowl was missing, huge difference after I replaced it, it is three pieces two ends that self stick and the long middle piece that slides on. I put black silicone where the ends meet the middle on both sides. It really quieted it down in the cab, noise must have been coming in through the windshield. I got the gaskets at the dealer. Good Luck
