I got nailed tonite for loud exhaust!!! No ticket but he told me to get it fixed or he would nail me the next time he saw me. I looked at every web link in the links and saw no mention of just a muffler. I need a 4" one. Any ideas ob what they run, and no i dont want a stock one. That might work unless he measures the noise or insists it has to be stock OEM. I had a Mrs Barney Fife try that one on my BB Dakota, actually gave me a ticket for excessive noise, not stock exhaust. (nothing stock about a gm BB in a dakota) I had just put on Flow Master 3 chamb 3" with side pipes. All I did was find a different cop that was cool about it and he signed off on it for me. That was 5 years ago and they are still on it. Those cop gods can really give you a hard time if they want to.

I've been NAILED for too much. $10.00 fix-it ticket. I thought it was the coolest thing ever when Smokey the Bear told me that "He heard me over the peterbilt next to me!" So the muffler that came with my AFE exhaust just sits in the corner collecting dust. Until next time.

Get a straight through muffler and just slide it over your existing pipe. The cops around here dont like straight pipes either but if they look under your truck and see the muffler They will let ya go

I think the dumby muffler that they were talking about is the "Sneaker Series" muffler. It looks like a muffler, but it is straight pipe inside. So cops can really give you a hard time with noise. Did they tell you how many decibels were the limit? He may just be giving you a hard time, but you might still be legal. It might be worth a check.

heck i have a banks stinger..

not much louder than stock, and ive been nailed at school for settin off alarms... when i turn on the truck. ppl just dont seem to comprehend that diesels are naturally loud, what about those kids with dual flowmasters running? those are usually louder than most diesels, but not all however, why dont they get ticketed or pulled over?

Ok, without shooting me down in flames....

I have never pulled over a vehicle for "loud exhaust" that did not deserve it. It is normally its the driver giving it full throttle that gets the vehicle pulled over. Think of Harley's with straight pipes, fart Megaphone cannons on ricers, and any other car or truck leaving under full throttle.

Normally, I pull them over tell them why they are advertising for a quick chat with me. I check for warrants, driver's license, sobriety, insurance. If driver is good to go that's it. No threats to fix it, I put the problem on their shoulder driving in a manner that doesn't get them pulled over.

Flame on....

I really love that. I have the 4" SS exhaust from Jegs. Does not seem that loud to me, but strangers do tell me it sounds good.

Couple weeks ago I started in a parking lot and the car next to me started squawking. LMAO. Then it stopped. Rapped the pipes, alarm squawked some more. I had fun.

I've been stopped in my boat (455 Olds, jet, 19') and I argued. Because I have thru-transom pipes (exit under water). She called a F&G roller to test it with their db meter. I was right on the limit!!!HAH! I told her she didn't need to go through all that to ask me out. My teenage son and friend could not keep from laughing. Her and I have been friends ever since.

Funny part was: some friends saw me making high speed passes right next to the patrol boats, hard button hooks and back at them.
From their view they thought I was trying to hit them.

If they test, the laws I've seen are from 50'
