My power steering is grinding and the fluid is coming out of the fill port What could be causing this problem? The Truck is a 1997 12 valve with 160000 miles on it. It has made noise in the past when it is cold but it never dumped the fluid.

Thanks, I will try changing out the fluid hopefully that will work.

 

Use synthetic'

 

I am back again same problem. I changed out fluid to synthetic and it still dump the fluid. So i changed the power steering pump now it howls louder than ever and still foaming. Is there something I am missing or some where else to look. Thanks Mike

 

Have you driven it enough to bleed air from the system?
Try that while watching the fluid level.

 

I let the truck sit for two days and the noise went away and the sterring works fine now.
