power/ mileage again

Well took my truck back to Scheid today, for the power and mileage problem, after a rebuild on the injector pump last oct. They claim that the turbo is ailing now , only 22 lbs. of boost. Ran test on the fuel system and checked timing which they said were fine I asked about maybe moving fuel plate up a little and they didn't want to do that, because once again they stated that they had installed a plate in the pump for torque ,( a torque plate) when they done the pump and the fuel setting should be fine. Now I have to decide if I want to spend $1500 for this new s3 turbo. Any input here guys I'm really dumb about Diesels Thanks

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe 22 of boost should be about right.

With my mods I make around 30 at full boogie. EGTs shoot up to 1200 with some effort.
Id have that turbo inspected before I give up on it. Also check your fuel pressure.

Moving the plate forward will help with your power. More fuel plus more air equals more power. All that fuel plate does is govern the amount of fuel into the engine. When i want some insane fueling i just take the plate out. The only govenor is your right foot . As of only getting 22lbs of boost, do you have your wastegate blocked?. If not, 22lbs is right around normal. If you do have it blocked, put some soapy water on the intercooler boots to see if there is an air leak. Those boots tend to rub up against the metal and tear. What kind of fuel mileage do you get?

They checked the intercooler also and said it was fine , as for the wastegate my turbo doesn't have one. The previous owner had a larger turbo housing installed and there isn't even a provision for a wastegate on it! Driving empty I get 22 mpg Hiway. Towing a loaded 24 ' enclosed car tailer @ (9000) lbs. I get about 11mpg. Before I had the injector pump rebuilt it got 24mpg and 16mpg towing and also had alot more power. Seems the truck is really laboring to get things moving , once I'm up to cruising speed I can put it in OD and stay there it's just getting it moving! Thanks guys

95's are dogs stock you need a #10 plate in the stock location and then your afc must be in the full forward position, loosen up on your starwheel until you can't stand the smoke.

Thanks I needed a good laugh. I had a 97 F350. Nothing against the 7.3 here however it holds no light to the mighty cummins and these trucks prove it time and time again. Just look at truck pulls, what engine do you see consistenly winning time and time again, the cummins. The only time you usually see a Ford win is if it has a cummins in it, or there are no Dodges there.
