Post Manual Trans Swap Issues
So I just finished swapping out my 47rh for an NV4500 and now im starting to trouble shoot some issues i am having.
First, the largest issue that may have cost me a lot more $ than intended is what auto trans cooler lines can I delete and do any need to be capped off or kept? I ask this because from what I had read it was ok to trash them all but when I went for my first test drive I had engine coolant spraying out of one of what I thought was a disconnected trans cooler line...... this brings me to my large problem which is i got coolant directly into the air filter and into the turbo and now the turbo is sputtering. Pretty sure its replacement time for the turbo now.
Next issue is now my oil gauge is all over the place. It will be at a constant pressure then jump to low pressure then back up. Does this ahve anything to do with my auto trans swap? Maybe the turbo?
Next issue is my coolant temp gauge is also all over the place. One second itll read 190, the next 150? Always jumping up and down dramatically.
My final problem is my speedometer is not working at all. I kept all the original wiring for the speed sensor in the t case but the speedo does not read anything. Is there something that i may have disconnected when taking the auto trans out that i am now missing?

Make sure that all the wires are hooked to the trans and transfercase.
Depending on how long your test drive was, your thermostat might have just started to open and close, letting colder fluid in and dropping the temp suddenly.
My temp flutuates around a lot [150-190] in the winter till the 5 gallons [or so] of coolant warms up in the radiator.
I would check the engine oil just in case too, with the turbo sucking anti freeze.
Did you get the tranny shifting well after taking the top plate off.
It shifted sweet for me before pulling it for you.

My coolant temp gauge bounces around like that...it's always in the 150-190 range. I think it started a couple years ago when I put a new radiator in. It's probably a thermostat issue but I haven't worried about it.

I wouldn't say trash the turbo yet! Try cleaning it out while running with sea foam, sprayed directly into intake housing, and check for end-play. As far as the coolant, I'd agree with the above post as far as the heat exchanger. Did the auto ever have foam in the fluid, indicating a bad exchanger? There should have been 4 "lines" to the heat exchanger (cylindrical shape under the turbo), in and out of the ends for coolant back to the block. I think there were 2 lines attached to the bottom of the cylinder for the in/out of trans fluid. One went to the cooler in front, and one back to the trans I think.
Motor will run somewhat cooler without the auto, as it's not taking the heat of a working tranny, so you may bigger temp drop when the 'stat opens. Good luck.
