PLEASE HELP.. coolant pushing out overflow
#31
my 4x4 isnt working... although yest when I got home I went to pull into the fence I was in 4x4 but could tell the front wasnt engaged cuz I kept spinning at lights and stops when I stopped and got out to openthe fence and when I got back in went in reverse a little bit and it thumped and I had 4wd in reverse then I put it in 1st and went forward and no 4wd cuz I ended up spinning .. the shift motor is brand new and I thought I could hear gears touching like it wasnt all the way engaged at the axle..
a week ago i pulled the vacuum lines off the shift motor and heard air but Im going to put a vac test on them, if I have one that works, and check the line also per dodge ram .org im going to try and diagnose the engage problems...
I also am wondering if all this doesnt have something to do with my vacuum pump or lines. because in the 12 valve forum I have had a post about coolant pushing out my overflow and my truck heats up at the temp guage but blows cold air threw the def and heater at low rpms if I keep the rpms at around 1500+ or down the hwy at a consistant rpm of 1500+, the temp guage stays normal with normal fluctuation from 140*-180*- 190*ish and blows warm air like normal for winter. I guess my question would be is the vacuum a possible culprit in these problems with my truck?? and how would I diagnose that? pumps are over $200 for reman. from what I found and it doesn't seem like to bad of a job to do in a couple hours but id hate to replace that expensive part when maybe I could only replace some vac line or fittings and the water pump or clutch fan f or about half the money and same amount of time... any and all advice and input is greatly appreciated THANK YOU
my truck has rust and is 96 2500 4x4 5spd 4:11 gears 244xxx miles with a build date of 9/95 so it was part of the recall of the vac lines but Im not sure if its still elligable or if it was even fixed in the first place I have not owned this truck long.. but it is my ninth cummins I have owned
