Plate and Reliability

Plate and Reliability
I'm currently arguing with the co-builder of the 94 about the reliability of the fuel pump after doing a plate swap/grind. This is his first build ever, so I told him it will be fine, we only need to worry about the tranny/egts.
He says that a more aggressive plate makes the pump work harder so it's less reliable. Whadda you all think? Besides, it's not like the P7100 is a hard thing to find parts for or buy used.

No it's not the pump that suffers reliability issues...it's piston and cylinder head issues that come up with someone going too aggressive and not being careful.
Stock plates and performace plates don't make a difference in the way of pump life.

I would definitely believe that a modification like that makes both the pump and engine work harder and will shorten their lifespan to some degree. Luckily, the engine and pump both started out with a long enough lifespan that we are still pretty satisfied with what we end up with.
