Thumbs down Piston loose in cylinder

Like the title says. And its the truck in my sig.

Its lot very loose....or maybe it is...I can move it back and forth with my fingers.

Cylinder walls are in good shape. I can still see the hone marks.

I'm changing the head gasket and thats how I found it. (oil in coolant)

It did have a knock when the engine was cold and maybe thats what it was?

Once its warm it sounds normal.

btw...its all 6 of them....lol

What am I in for?

Is there any ridge on the top of the cylinders? If you can see the hone marks they sound ok- and some piston slop is 100% normal as the pistons heat up much faster than the iron block does and expand rapidly on warmup

Perhaps nothing, to us ex-gasser guys, these things are pre-worn out at the factory.

Book calls for 4.0203" bore from the factory, run a piston down and have the bores measured to see what you have. Out of round spec. is .0015.

Pistons new range from 4.0110-4.0088, which could give you .011" clearance brand new from the factory, and yea, it would seem like it is sloppy......
