performance overflow valve

performance overflow valve
As was told to me there is no thing as a performance overflow valve. My question is,I checked the fuel pressure on my truck last night. At idle it was at 21 PSI and about 26 PSI at 2000 RPM(no load). This is a brand new OFV.Next I took the orginal OFV and installed it.I got 39 PSI at idle. While I was moving the RPM up to 2000,the presssure would start to drop to 35 PSI and start to climb to 41 PSI over 2000 RPM and stay there. Is this, some stupid mod the previse owner did??It sound like he may have replaced the spring for higher pressure.Could this high pressure have killed my orginal pump??????

Overflow valves are available in a wide range of pressure settings.
The 12 valve stock valve is actually called 35 psi.
I've seen catalogs that offer settings up to 50 psi on OF valves that will fit our pumps.
I've yet to see anyone prove more pressure is better, in fact the evidence is more pressure is detrimental.

I had a bit low fuel pressure so I tweaked my overflow valve to where I was seeing 42-45 psi all the time. My lift pump started ticking so I backed it down to stock specs. The ticking stopped and it's been running great ever since (knock on wood).
